Making reusable fabric gift wrapping the new normal

Our mission is simple: to make reusable fabric gift wrapping something people naturally think about whenever they give a gift. We want thoughtful, considered gift wrapping to feel easy and normal, without relying on something that may be used for only a few minutes before being thrown away.

We have already changed one everyday habit. Taking a reusable shopping bag with us rather than automatically accepting a new single-use bag has become second nature for many of us. I would love to see the same change happen with gift wrapping.

Furoshiki has been used in Japan for centuries to wrap and carry items in fabric. One of the things I love about the tradition is how simple the principle can be: use fabric, tie it securely and use it again.

For anyone used to wrapping paper, tape and scissors, fabric gift wrapping can look more difficult than it really is. I sometimes see that hesitation first-hand when people tell me they wouldn’t know how to do it. My ambition is for Eazywraps to move from being something people discover and think, “What a great idea,” to something they naturally think about using whenever they give a gift.

If reusable fabric gift wrapping can be simple, quick, thoughtful and used again and again, there is every reason for it to become part of everyday gifting.

For me, real success would be helping to change the way people think about gift wrapping, so reaching for a reusable wrap feels just as natural as remembering a reusable shopping bag.
