Our Story

When life gives you lemons, add gin!

Eazywraps began during a period when life had taken a rather unexpected turn.

In 2019, I suffered a neck injury that eventually caused significant muscle loss down the right-hand side of my upper body. By 2021, I had to stop working and concentrate on rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Starting a new business certainly wasn't part of the plan.

What I suddenly had, though, was something I had rarely had before: time. Lots of it. And with that came the opportunity to think about what I wanted the next chapter of my life to look like.

I have always liked the phrase “when life gives you lemons, add gin”, and I suppose Eazywraps became my version of that. I couldn't change what had happened, but I could decide what I wanted to create from it.

Discovering Furoshiki fabric gift wrapping

Somewhere along the way, I discovered Furoshiki, the traditional Japanese practice of wrapping and carrying items in fabric.

I loved the simplicity of it. A beautiful piece of fabric could transform a gift in moments, without the usual paper, scissors and sticky tape, and instead of being thrown away afterwards, it could be used again and again.

It felt like such a simple idea: make the wrapping part of the pleasure of giving, rather than something destined for the bin minutes after the present is opened.

But then my brain did what my brain tends to do. It started asking questions.

Why make more fabric when beautiful fabric already exists?

The more I looked into fabric gift wrapping, the more something bothered me.

Many reusable fabric wraps were being imported cheaply, while others were being made from fabric manufactured specifically to create a reusable product. Yet there was already an enormous amount of beautiful surplus and deadstock fabric in existence.

To me, manufacturing more material to solve a waste problem didn't make much sense.

So if I was going to create Eazywraps, I wanted to do it differently.

I wanted to carefully source beautiful surplus and deadstock fabrics already available in the UK, make the wraps here, and create something reusable that still felt special enough to be part of the gift itself.

Made in London, shaped by the fabrics we find

Today, Eazywraps are made in London by a family-run manufacturer using fabrics sourced in the UK.

Because I choose from surplus and deadstock textiles that already exist, the fabrics themselves help shape each collection. Quantities vary, so many designs are produced in naturally limited runs and the range changes as different fabrics become available.

For me, sustainability has never been about asking people to compromise. I wanted Eazywraps to be beautiful enough to feel part of the gift while giving existing fabric another purpose.

Building Eazywraps as I rebuilt myself

Eazywraps certainly wasn't an overnight business success story.

For quite a while, simply spending time at a laptop was an achievement. So the business grew gradually, alongside my own rehabilitation.

I researched, tested ideas, found fabrics, worked out how I wanted the products made and slowly turned the idea into something real.

I finally launched the Eazywraps website in October 2024.

In many ways, the two journeys have continued together: I gradually built Eazywraps as I rebuilt myself. As my strength has grown, so has the business.

Looking back, Eazywraps probably isn't the business I would have imagined creating before my injury. But sometimes an unexpected route takes you somewhere rather interesting.

It gave me the opportunity to build something around things that genuinely matter to me: beautiful design, thoughtful gifting, less unnecessary waste, supporting UK businesses and doing things a little differently.

A more considered way to give

What began with discovering Furoshiki has become something bigger for me.

I want Eazywraps to help change the way we think about gift wrapping. We put thought into choosing a gift for someone, and I believe the way we give it deserves thought too. Beautiful wrapping should feel part of the gift, not something disposable or an afterthought.

Ultimately, I want Eazywraps to become part of a more considered way of gifting, where the wrapping is chosen with the same thought as the gift itself.
